-
In the beginning God created everything. His creation was perfect. Man was created to be at his best, in a perfect
relationship with God the Father. God gave mankind the ability to choose whether to obey Him or not.
-
The stories of Adam and Eve depict how mankind chose sin rather than the
eternal life with God, which was the created purpose for him. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God - Rom 3:23
[Sin is when we disobey God and go our own way]
-
This sin causes a rift between the perfection of God and the condition of man. In the Bible, Paul says that 'the wage
of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' - Rom 6:23 [Because God is perfect
He will not let sin survive - because it is rebellion against His perfect will]
-
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says 'God loves the world so much that He gave His only son so that anyone who
believes in him should not die but have eternal life' - John 3:16 [Even though we all reject Him, God still loves
each one of us with a love that is way beyond our understanding. Because of this He was willing for His Son Jesus to
stand in for us]
-
In Jesus the penalty (wages) of our sin is met. His sacrificial death on the cross paid that price and bought back the possibility
of true relationship with God, the Father. This is His gift of eternal life to us.[Eternal life means just that. Man was created
to be an eternal being - it is our sinful nature that brought death into creation. We were created to live forever with God]
-
Scripture teaches that 'if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.' - 2 Cor 5:17
This is often referred to as new birth. Our sinful state is forgiven by God through Jesus.
-
But I'm not religious! Christianity is not a religion, it is about a living relationship between you and God.
Jesus said 'I am the way, the truth and the life.' - John 14:6 He also said
'I came that you may have life, life in all its fullness' - John 10:10
-
What must I do? Believe in Jesus, that he is the Son of God, who died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin.
Repent (turn away) from your sinful ways and be baptised and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit - Acts 2:38
